Our Past Grants

Judy Dworin Performance Project, in Hartford, CT, received funding for “Bridging Boundaries, Moms & Kids and Dads and Kids.” The program serves families of incarcerated mothers and fathers at York Correction Institution and Cybulski Community Reintegration Center, whose purpose is to rebuild and sustain the relationships between children and their parents. The grant supported pivoting these programs from in-person to remote due to the pandemic, which necessitated closing the facilities to visitors. One projected outcome was the printing of beautiful holiday booklets, as well as providing visual arts materials and children’s books for the youngsters. Total Grant: $5,000

LES Center

The Lower East Side Ecology Center is on a mission to make New York City more sustainable. This year, we piloted the Food Justice Project, which couples the Ecology Center’s expertise in composting, stewardship, and environmental education with Henry Street Settlement's access to underutilized outdoor garden space, existing programs for youth, and commitment to food justice. The LES Food Justice Program is activating community garden plots for small-scale food production and providing community members with access to locally grown food. The program is educating community residents about gardening and growing food, and weaving community-led healthy food and nutrition education into the outreach.

The grant of $10,000 was given to educate children about the importance of learning good nutrition
